Job Summary
Hosts/Hostesses greet guests with warmth and professionalism, manage reservations and seating flow, and maintain an organized and welcoming front-of-house environment. This role requires strong communication skills, a calm and positive demeanor, and the ability to manage guest flow in a busy setting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Guest Experience & Service
- Greet every guest with a warm, genuine welcome
- Manage the host stand, guest check-in, and waiting list with accuracy
- Provide accurate wait times and update guests as needed
- Escort guests to tables while maintaining a polished level of hospitality
- Guide guests through restaurant layout, menus, and any special experiences
- Communicate guest requests, dietary needs, or special occasions to the service team
Reservation & Seating Management
- Manage reservations via phone, online platform, or walk-ins
- Maintain balanced seating across sections to support servers and overall flow
- Assist in planning for large parties and special events
- Coordinate with managers regarding pacing, wait times, and guest concerns
Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entryway, and menus
- Answer phones professionally and assist with takeout or general inquiries
- Support coat check or guest-service touches as needed
- Communicate effectively with servers, bussers, and managers to keep service running smoothly
- Uphold all restaurant service standards, grooming guidelines, and policies
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent communication and guest interaction skills
- Professional appearance and confident, positive presence
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure
- Strong sense of hospitality and guest awareness
- Comfortable using reservation systems (previous experience a plus)
Qualifications
- Prior host/hostess or customer-service experience preferred/but not required
- Must be reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays
Pay: $14.81 - $25.00 per hour
