CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments. Migrant Head Start program provides full-day, full-year program services to children, ages 0-5 years, of migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families where hand-picked and row crops are prevalent.
Position Summary
The Preschool Teacher is responsible to promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school success and life success as it relates to this position. To provide high quality developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3-5 in a center-based classroom in the CPLC ECD Program. Work as part of a center based inter-disciplinary team to support the child in all areas of development while providing education, disabilities, health, and social service support to families. Abide by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards (issued 9/1/2016), Head Start Act (12/7/2007), Texas Child Care Licensing-(for centers in Texas), New Mexico State Child Care Regulations-New Mexico Kids-(for centers located in New Mexico),, Office of Head Start Initiatives and ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures. Actively always supervise children by sight and sound and in all environments. Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
- An associate degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (EDE) or coursework equivalent to a major relating to Child Development or Early Childhood Education in a related field. Education obtained outside of the United States of America (USA) and from another country must be evaluated from an accredited organization to determine equivalency to USA education standards.
- Minimum 6 months working with Preschool children highly preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
- Applicants must have basic keyboard skills, be able to use computers, computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe) and web-based systems.
