  • This position works onsite Monday-Friday at our 7th Ave/Camelback location.

How Will You Make An Impact In This Role

Behavioral coach provides support and guidance to people who are struggling with mild or moderate mental health concerns like anxiety and depression and is responsible for the skills training of both the child and parent participants in a variety of techniques and methods to improve client behaviors. The focus of the skills training for the client will be to teach appropriate socialization skills within a group of peers and others in the community, which the children will be 10-17 years of age. Additionally, the Behavior Coach will implement behavior intervention plans focused on decreasing disruptive and maladaptive child behaviors that interfere with successful social experiences. The Behavior Coach will also be available for individual consultation with parents who need assistance with implementing teaching strategies and behavior management approaches at home in between the weekly group meetings. Behavior coach will also help assist with facilitate IOP groups at the clinic.

Who You Are

  • Working knowledge of lifespan development and harm reduction models
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize symptoms to the full and broad range of DSM diagnoses
  • Ability to provide routine, urgent, and emergent interventions
  • Ability to apply and integrate the American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria in service planning and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to apply motivational enhancement, stages of change, family systems, and appropriate family communication process
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively engage clients in process and maintain safety and cohesiveness
  • Knowledge and understanding of group therapy models and stages
  • Ability to demonstrate education and verbalization of information in a culturally competent and sensitive manner

Primary Duties And Essential Functions

  • Meets frequently with client in their natural setting or setting of their choice
  • Provides minimal tutoring/help with homework and accompanies client to approved activities
  • Provides information, education, and guidance to clients and support system members, advocacy, and coordination of care
  • Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients and significant support systems
  • Strengthens connections to positive community resources identified by the Child and Family Team
  • Engages in Family Centered, strengths-based treatment planning and coordination and reports client needs to Child and Family Team
  • Serves as a member of a Child and Family Team if requested by the family and attends all CFT meetings
  • Document and submit significant and routine paperwork such as progress notes, statistic reports, daily activities, upcoming events, special concerns, and varied incident reports
  • Trainings/meetings are usually completed virtually from home
  • Assist with facilitation of IOP groups
  • Meet or exceed monthly productivity expectations
  • May perform other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, Education, or related field or high school diploma/GED with 1 year experience working with children, adolescents, or families with behavioral difficulties
  • A working knowledge and experience implementing behavioral interventions
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under automobile insurance policy
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance card, CPR, CPI, and First Aid certifications
  • Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish preferred
  • Must possess excellent phone etiquette with verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be customer service driven and demonstrate the ability to multi-task
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Knowledge and understanding in general mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and serious mental illness
  • Familiarity with application of behavioral principles in youth treatment, understanding of the Arizona Child and Family Team model
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements
  • Have good organization and time management skills
  • Ability to attend required Child and Family Team training within one month of assuming position and participate in ongoing learning requirements, as needed
