Employees in this class are entry level representatives who receive training in student financial assistance program rules, regulations, and policies and provide basic informational services to clients (such as providing routine information and answering routine questions) regarding student financial assistance programs. They work under direct supervision from higher level personnel.
Job Description
1. Assist students with inquiries regarding their student account and setting up payment arrangements.
2. Monitor and track accounts placed with collection agencies.
3. Responsible for making collection calls, sending letters, and past due notices to current and former students.
4. Perform analysis and reconciliation on individual accounts; identify discrepancies and make corrections as needed.
5. Assist with preparing financial statements and reports.
6. Research and prepare stop payments.
7. Assist with student accounts receivable monthly billing.
8. Assist with third party invoicing, reporting, reconciliation and research any discrepancies.
9. Review and process student refunds and State off-set payments.
10. Summarize and report account discrepancies clearly to management and/or student/debtor.
11. Assure that all Bursar procedures are followed and are in accordance with University Policy.
12. Assist with preparation of collection reports.
13. Provide excellent customer service to students on payment plans, account inquiries, etc.
14. Perform other job duties as assigned.
15. Assist with presentations at campus events, information sessions, and representing the Bursar office.
15. The position requires the execution of all responsibilities and duties in full compliance with all applicable State mandates, University rules and Federal regulations. Position entails cooperation with the directives and initiatives of the Office of Compliance and its efforts to promote a culture of compliance throughout the University.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or any combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:
- course work in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, psychology, education, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- professional work experience in customer service, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field.
- course work in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, psychology, education, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
