What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseman position at Chevy Chase Club?
The Afternoon Shift Houseman is responsible for setting up and breaking down all banquet events and other functions at the Club. He is also required to clean and vacuum any area assigned and complete projects when needed. The afternoon shift houseman is also required to work in different areas of the club such as pool, fitness center, winter center, lockers, etc. He strives to consistently exceed the expectations of the Club’s members and guests creating and maintaining an orderly, clean, safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Vacuums, cleans and mops floors thoroughly in the Clubhouse, Winter Center, Fitness Center, Indoor Tennis and Skate Shop.
Blows off balconies before events and neatly arranges wrought iron tables and chairs according to standards.
Efficiently and effectively sets up and breaks down all events at the club following Banquet Event Orders and instructions given by supervisor.
Rotates periodically to get training and experience in other areas of the club.
Performs all projects at the club, including but not limited to, shampooing, scrubbing, power washing, buffing, stripping, and waxing floors in different areas.
Collects garbage in the Clubhouse, Winter and Fitness Center, Skate Shop, and any other area if needed or when assigned by supervisor.
Provides towels in the Fitness Center and Outdoor/ Indoor Tennis throughout the day and brings the dirty ones to laundry.
Performs pool locker attendant duties if needed or when assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to, picking up dirty towels and supplying clean ones, washing, drying, and folding towels in the laundry, maintaining men’s lockers/bathroom throughout the day, setting up events taking place at the pool, and collecting all trash periodically.
Must have experience in the janitorial and/or hospitality industry.
Must have prior banquet setups experience.
Must be able to work as a team and follow instructions regarding priority of tasks or functions.
Must be willing to get training in the use of floor and carpet machines and other equipment used in the housekeeping industry.
Must be willing to learn the standards for cleanliness and maintenance of all areas in the Club.
