Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED; minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support work; or an equivalent combination or training and experience. Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse population. Ability to operate a PC using Windows 365 Office Suite, skilled with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel and Word. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking capabilities.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. (Driving records are checked as a condition of employment.)
Pre-employment drug testing, fingerprint-based FBI criminal background check (including polygraph examination), driving and criminal history inquiry, and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.Duties
This position provides administrative level support to the Compliance Division of the Chesterfield County Jail and is located in a secured jail facility with some indirect inmate contact. This position will conduct telephone or electronic meetings to advise inmates and other stakeholders about program eligibility requirements and acquires information needed to approve inmates for alternative sentencing options. The position will require accurate record keeping of all inmate files, serves as the centralized point of contact for external correspondence. Provides the Classification Unit and the Principal Accountant by serving as the backup for several internal database systems and provides general office support services in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. Performs other work as required.
