Senior Accountant

Chesapeake Search Partners is searching for a Senior Accountant to join our client's team in Laurel, MD. Our client is a growing organization within the facility services industry seeking an accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on, operationally focused environment. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will play a key role in supporting the accounting function across a multi-location business while partnering closely with both finance and operations leadership.

This is a newly-created position and offers broad exposure across financial reporting, project accounting, payroll, and business analysis, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience within a dynamic and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Assist with financial reporting and maintain the accuracy of accounting records across multiple operating locations
• Analyze project and operational costs, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses
• Support job costing activities and profitability reporting for ongoing projects and service operations
• Assist with payroll accounting and related reporting activities
• Collaborate with operational and finance teams to improve reporting, processes, and overall financial visibility
• Support audit, compliance, and other accounting initiatives as needed
• Participate in process improvement efforts and system enhancement projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience within construction, contracting, facility services, manufacturing, distribution, or other project-based environments preferred
• Understanding of job costing, project accounting, and financial reporting concepts a plus
• Payroll experience preferred
• Strong Excel and ERP systems skills
