Role Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides bedside care, collaborating with RNs based on patient acuity and workload. When patients are present, the LPN assists with assessments, documentation, and specific tasks such as medication administration, IV piggybacks (excluding IV push), dressing changes, trach care, NG tube insertion and care, ostomy care, and patient education. The LPN communicates with physicians and advanced practice providers to coordinate care and ensure proper treatment plans are followed.

Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Illinois LPN license (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days (AHA)
- College diploma as an LPN
- Experience in clinical care settings
- Administer medications, hang IV fluids (excluding IV push)
- Chart assessments and update care plans in collaboration with RNs
- Assist with wound, trach, NG tube, and ostomy care
- Reinforce patient education and discharge instructions
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team to coordinate patient care
