Senior Collections Specialist

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Senior Collections Specialist to manage customer collections, resolve billing discrepancies, and support aging and receivables reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and Excel, along with a proven ability to work independently on complex customer accounts while partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Customer Success.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle collections process for assigned customer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate cash application.
• Proactively follow up on past-due accounts via phone, email, and customer portals to drive on-time payment.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, unapplied cash, short pays, and customer disputes in coordination with internal teams.
• Maintain accurate customer account records in Sage Intacct and Salesforce.
• Prepare, analyze, and maintain AR aging reports, including trend analysis and recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable and collections.
• Develop and maintain detailed Excel schedules and reports (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
• Assist in improving collections processes, documentation, and internal controls.
• Provide management with regular status updates on high-risk accounts and collection efforts.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of progressive collections or accounts receivable experience, with senior-level responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct (required).
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce (required).
• Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas).
• Strong experience handling billing discrepancy research and customer dispute resolution.
• Demonstrated experience supporting and analyzing AR aging reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional customer-facing approach.
