Job Description
Overview
Monitor Technicians are accountable for providing continual observation of cardiac monitors at the Central Monitoring Station, under the direction of an RN or LPN. The Monitor Technician must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of electrocardiography and recognize cardiac arrhythmias. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least six (6) months of experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be currently certified in BLS and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, BLS certification can be obtained during orientation. Must complete the Basic Dysrhythmia course within orientation and must complete annually throughout employment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG), or by the General Services Administration (GSA), or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare. Must be able to pass the arrhythmia test. Monitor tech or related experience preferred. Dysrhythmia certified preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
