Job Summary:

Performs electrocardiographs and other related examinations for patients as directed according to established standards and practices.

Job Duties:

Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Performs electrocardiograms, heart monitor recordings, cardiac stress settings, electroencephalograms, and other procedures as ordered. Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures. Prepares the patient, explains the procedure and ensures patient’s cooperation during the exam. Applies suitable electrodes on predestined measured positions on the patient’s body and checks their performance. Calibrates and adjusts the equipment in accordance with standard procedure. Performs tests with portable equipment in the patient room when necessary. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information concerning patient care. Submits ECGs, EEGs, Holter monitor data, and stress test results to the physician for interpretation. Logs scan into EHR and fax results to referring physician(s) (if applicable), complete professional interpretation change daily. Prepares preliminary reports addressed to the patient’s physician. Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one and one-half (1 ½ ) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

None required.


COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should know Internet software.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within sixty (60) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Knowledge of the circulatory system related to cardiac symptoms of exercise and the ability to recognize cardiac emergencies that occur due to exercise testing, ECG testing, Ambulatory Blood Pressure monitoring, Holter monitoring, and device testing. Knowledge of the nervous system related to neurologic systems, abnormal changes during hyperventilation and photic stimulation, the ability to recognize cardiac and seizure emergencies that may occur during the EEG tracing. Knowledge of International 10-20 EEG lead placement for accuracy of EEG readings on adults, pediatrics, and neonates, applying scalp electrodes, make EEG tracings to indicate outside disturbances, awake, drowsy, and sleep periods.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to correct/adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee will frequently be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather related), extreme heat (non-weather related), and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary : $37,216 - $50,691
