What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Foreman position at Cherokee Nation?
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and maintaining grounds.
Job Duties:Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings. Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse. Initiates requisitions for tools, equipment, and supplies. Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Maintains time records. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 2 to 10 employees in the Facilities Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
One year certificate from college or technical school; or one and one-half years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional three years experience in maintenance is required.

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Any technical license or certificate is preferred.
