Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure health stability
- Support medication administration following prescribed protocols and document accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
- Operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer and positioning of residents to prevent injury
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundering linens
Skills
- Proven experience in long-term care environments such as nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes
- Knowledge of assisted living practices and home & community care standards
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support
- Strong understanding of dementia care principles and Alzheimer’s care techniques
- Competence in vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic first aid procedures
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents’ families, team members, and healthcare professionals
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties when required; experience driving in a healthcare setting is a plus
