Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track health status.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication administration in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques to promote comfort and safety.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining nutritional needs while respecting individual dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Document care activities thoroughly, communicate effectively with team members, and report any changes in resident condition promptly to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Prior experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly valued.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and behavior management for individuals with disabilities or dementia.
- Certifications or training in first aid and CPR are preferred; willingness to obtain these certifications is required if not already held.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with residents and their families while demonstrating compassion and patience.
- Valid driver’s license preferred for roles involving community-based care or transportation responsibilities.
