Job – R&D Enterprise Tools Operations Specialist
Location: Onsite - Tucson, AZ
Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension
Role Overview
This role sits within Digital Innovation and Operational Services team in R&D. The team focuses on improving internal efficiency by simplifying systems, standardizing processes, and reducing administrative burden across global research and development teams.
As an R&D Enterprise Tools Operations Specialist, you act as a hands-on operational support expert for enterprise R&D systems used by scientists and engineers worldwide. Your work ensures these users can focus more on research and less on administrative tasks.
The role combines:
- Day-to-day system support and request handling
- Deep understanding of business tools and R&D workflows
- Process improvement and automation initiatives
Core Purpose
- Support global R&D users by executing system and tool-related requests
- Ensure compliance, accuracy, and data integrity in regulated R&D environments
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and process simplification
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal business applications
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Tool Support
- Execute system requests related to R&D tools and platforms
- Resolve operational issues for internal users
- Provide timely and accurate support to global teams
2. Subject Matter Expertise
- Become an expert in one or more R&D business applications
- Understand workflows such as:
- Records management
- Lab data systems
- Change control processes
3. Process Understanding & Execution
- Learn R&D business structures and workflows deeply
- Follow regulated procedures with high accuracy
- Ensure compliance with audit and data governance requirements
4. Operational Efficiency & Productivity Support
- Help scientists reduce time spent on administrative tasks
- Identify bottlenecks in processes and suggest improvements
- Support global productivity by streamlining system usage
5. Automation & Improvement
- Identify manual tasks that can be automated
- Contribute to digital transformation efforts
- Use or explore automation tools, AI, or scripting where applicable
6. Customer & Stakeholder Support
- Provide professional and responsive support to internal users
- Build understanding of user needs across global teams
- Anticipate recurring issues and proactively address them
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or business-related field preferred
Experience
- 2 years in operations, technical support, system administration, or similar roles
- (internships or academic projects may be considered)
Skills
- Strong English communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to quickly learn new enterprise systems
- High attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
- Strong execution and task completion skills
- Comfortable working in global, cross-functional teams
