What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extended Day Floating Teacher position at CHARLOTTE LATIN SCHOOL INC?
Latin's Extended Day (Hawks' Club) is looking for a Floating Teacher to begin in August 2026. The Hawks’ Club Floater offers support to the Director and classroom teachers by providing assistance with tasks and coverage of the classroom when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide substitute care when needed if a teacher is absent and another substitute cannot be scheduled.
- Provide daily assistance to teachers as requested.
- When in the classroom, fulfill the duties of the teacher that you are relieving, such as interacting with children, classroom management, reading stories, serving snacks, supervising on the playground, homework assistance, etc.
- Cover teacher breaks, planning periods, and teacher meetings when requested.
- Greet parents and answer questions at arrival and departure times in the absence of the classroom teacher
- Assist Directors with special projects or special after-school events as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child Development preferred.
- Two years teaching experience, preferably with school-age children.
Skills
- Possess a natural ability to interact appropriately with young children.
- Able to work effectively with school age levels - Tk/K & 1st-5th grade
- Flexible and able to work efficiently with frequent interruptions.
- Able to switch quickly between types of tasks as needed by the Director.
- Able to prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Proven interpersonal relations skills.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with parents, Director and faculty.
- Computer literate.
- Strong organizational skills.
- A propensity for working collaboratively with faculty.
- Adheres to the highest level of professionalism
Working Conditions and Environment
- Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
- Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
- Frequently talk and hear.
- Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
- Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
