Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can work outdoors and support essential community services? In this position, you’ll assist with daily operations at the County’s solid waste facility, helping ensure safe, efficient disposal while maintaining clean and organized work areas.
You’ll help direct citizens to proper disposal areas, provide guidance on procedures, and assist with unloading materials when needed. Your work will include picking up litter and debris, maintaining roadways and disposal areas, and supporting general site upkeep. You may also assist with basic construction and maintenance tasks such as drainage work, asphalt patching, and minor repairs around the facility.
Safety is a top priority. You’ll monitor your surroundings, help maintain safe traffic flow within the site, and use appropriate protective equipment at all times. You’ll operate hand and power tools, small equipment, and County vehicles as needed, and assist with loading and unloading materials and supplies.

Education and Experience:An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications.
- Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Ability to operate standard equipment and hand tools used in the area of assignment.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform manual labor, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
