What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Clerk I – Payroll (Part-Time) position at Charlotte County, Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller?
This position operates in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness are essential.
•Reviews employee timesheets, leave records, and payroll documents for accuracy and completeness; follows up with departments to resolve discrepancies.
•Assists with processing payroll data, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, direct deposit information, deductions, and benefit changes.
•Assists with verifying payroll records and personnel files.
•Maintains employee payroll files and ensures payroll records are complete, accurate, and confidential.
•Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
•Assist with Florida Retirement System (FRS) reporting and Workers’ Compensation payroll processing.
•Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
•Assists with payroll audits by gathering records, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
•Provides backup support to Payroll during absences or periods of increased workload.
•Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
