Position Summary:
Charlevoix County Department of Building Safety is seeking a full or part-time Mechanical and/or Plumbing Inspector. The schedule is full-time or part-time, no weekend work. Part-time is flexible, working at least three days per week. This position is responsible for administering mechanical codes, engaging in plan review, issuing permits, conducting inspections, and enforcing code as necessary in the County. Applicants for this position must be able to get registered, or provisionally registered, as an inspector through the State of Michigan in the Mechanical and Plumbing trade under the provisions of P.A. 54 of 1986.
Mandatory Requirements:
· Must be able to qualify under Public Act 54 as a Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector and Plan Reviewer
· Must have minimum of 3 out of the 4 mechanical licenses 1, 2, 4, 9
· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
· Good communication skills
· Typing/keyboarding experience
· Ability to learn and understand the provisions of the Mechanical and Plumbing Code
Job Location/ Working Conditions:
This position requires self-transportation to job sites (using County provided vehicles), which may at times, require walking varying distances to reach new construction sites when access has not been completed. Must have the physical ability to access and move around within small and tight spaces, which may require occasional bending, kneeling, crawling, and other movements necessary to access various locations of a home or business where infrastructure is located and or concealed.
