Summary
We are seeking a Director of Purchasing to lead our procurement strategy and ensure goods and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company standards. This role oversees vendor relationships, negotiates contracts, and manages a team of purchasing professionals to support organizational goals.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
· Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with approved manufacturers and suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, rebates, and service agreements to support company profitability.
· Monitor vendor performance in quality, delivery, reliability, and responsiveness.
Inventory & Demand Management
· Maintain optimal inventory levels by analyzing usage trends, lead times, and sales forecasts.
· Manage replenishment processes for stock and non-stock items.
· Minimize back orders and surplus inventory through proactive planning.
Purchase Order Execution
· Oversee team creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with sales teams to support customer inquiries, quotes, and special-order items.
· Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to ensure smooth inbound logistics.
· Support finance with vendor invoice reconciliation and credit/returns processes.
Market & Product Knowledge
· Stay current on PVF industry trends, product specifications, and supplier offerings.
· Monitor pricing changes, commodity markets, and supply chain disruptions.
Data & Reporting
· Track KPIs such as fill rates, inventory turns, cost savings, and vendor performance.
· Maintain accurate purchasing and product data in ERP systems.
Required Qualifications:
· Experience in PVF, industrial distribution, construction supply, or related fields.
· Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor-relationship management skills.
· Proficiency with ERP systems and inventory management systems.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Must be confident, able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and interested in being innovative.
