About the Role:
The Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant in this role will provide comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations across various clinical settings in the United States. This position focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing psychiatric disorders while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans. The role demands a commitment to evidence-based practice, patient education, and advocacy to improve mental health outcomes. The practitioner will also engage in ongoing assessment and follow-up to ensure continuity of care and adjust treatments as necessary. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance the quality of life for patients through compassionate, holistic, and culturally sensitive mental health services. This is a site-based position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant license in the United States.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or relevant Physician Assistant certification with experience in mental health.
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Demonstrated experience in psychiatric or mental health clinical practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, or community mental health settings.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
- Additional certifications in psychotherapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
- Strong background in substance use disorder treatment.
- Participation in continuing education related to psychiatric care and mental health innovations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments to diagnose conditions accurately.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and providing psychotherapy as appropriate.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies based on clinical response and patient feedback.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in psychiatric care and best practices.
