You became a coach to develop athletes, improve performance, and help people accomplish things they did not believe were possible.

At Change the Game Performance, you will coach athletes ranging from middle school and collegiate competitors to active adults and masters athletes.

Every athlete begins with advanced performance testing, allowing our coaches to deliver intentional training based on their goals, movement needs, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.

We are looking for a passionate, growth-minded Sports Performance Coach who wants to sharpen their skills, learn from an experienced team, and build a long-term career in sports performance.

This is a flexible part-time position with a clear pathway toward full-time employment as you demonstrate coaching excellence, leadership, professional growth, and meaningful contributions to the organization.

At Change the Game Performance, coaching is about far more than leading a workout.

Every session is an opportunity to teach, encourage, challenge, and develop the person standing in front of you. We believe great coaching combines technical excellence with meaningful relationships, helping athletes build confidence, resilience, and habits that extend far beyond the weight room.

We're looking for coaches who are passionate about developing people—not simply supervising exercises—and who take pride in helping every athlete become the best version of themselves.

What You Will Do

  • Lead small-group, semi-private, and one-on-one sports performance sessions
  • Coach strength, speed, power, mobility, movement quality, and conditioning
  • Deliver individualized coaching based on athlete goals and assessment findings
  • Teach proper movement mechanics with technical excellence
  • Assist with athlete assessments and performance testing
  • Learn and use our performance technology and testing systems
  • Track athlete progress and celebrate meaningful improvements
  • Build strong relationships with athletes and their families
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists, coaches, front office staff, and leadership
  • Participate in workshops, camps, school partnerships, and community outreach
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional training environment
  • Contribute ideas that improve our services and athlete experience

You May Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have experience coaching athletes in a sports performance, collegiate, private training, or strength and conditioning environment
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field
  • Have an equivalent combination of relevant education, coaching experience, and certifications
  • Hold a CSCS certification or are actively working toward one or
  • Hold a nationally accredited strength and conditioning or sports performance certification
  • Enjoy actively coaching people rather than supervising workouts
  • Communicate confidently with athletes, parents, and teammates
  • Are dependable, adaptable, organized, and professional
  • Respond well to feedback and coaching
  • Value continual learning and professional growth
  • Are available to work onsite in Wilmington, North Carolina

  • How many years of experience do you have coaching athletes in a sports performance, collegiate, private training, or strength and conditioning environment?
  • Do you hold a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field?
