Seasonal Operations Worker
Champaign Park District – Seasonal, Non-Exempt (not to exceed six (6) months)
About the Job
Love working outdoors and being hands-on? The Seasonal Operations Worker plays a vital role in keeping Champaign’s parks, athletic fields, and outdoor spaces safe, clean, and enjoyable for the community. From maintaining grounds to supporting athletic field operations, this position offers active, meaningful work that directly impacts the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Perform outdoor maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, trash removal, and facility cleaning
- Operate and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, and hand tools
- Assist with athletic field preparation and maintenance (lining fields, repairing turf, installing/removing fencing, drying fields after rain)
- Complete minor repairs and assist skilled maintenance tasks (carpentry, plumbing, painting, custodial work, and more)
- Install sod, prepare seeding areas, and maintain curbs, sidewalks, and park amenities
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and grounds daily and report issues to supervisors
- Interact professionally with the public and provide basic information when needed
- Follow all safety policies and Park District procedures
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as assigned

Qualifications:- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must maintain a valid Illinois driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery required for the position.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including:
- Lift up to 70 lbs. independently and over 70 lbs. with assistance.
- Perform frequent kneeling, bending, twisting, gripping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive hand/arm motions.
- Work on uneven or inclined terrain.
- Perform sustained outdoor physical work in hot, cold, wet, or otherwise challenging weather conditions.
Salary : $16 - $17
