Sybase DBA

Position Description:

CGI is seeking a Sybase Database Administrator to provide administration, operational support, development, upgrades, migrations and troubleshooting. This role will also implement best practices.

This ideal candidate will be located in Detroit, Michigan, but will consider remote candidates.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $154,300.00.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Resolve high priority plant issues related to the database development work
Provide operational support DB monitoring tuning, backup and restore functions
Maintain data synchronization across production replicas and manage failover processes
Work with developers to design database objects and support application development
Distribute PowerBuilder codes to optimize performance, and ensure data integrity
Continuously tracking metrics such as CPU usage, I/O latency, and memory pressure
Designing and managing solutions like Availability Groups, Mirroring to ensure 24/7 uptime
Proven ability to streamline and automate repetitive processes using PowerShell, Bash Perl or Python reducing manual effort and increasing reliability
Proactively analyzing database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing systems for efficiency
Managing user permissions, enforcing security policies, and conducting audits to prevent unauthorized access
Managing server uptime and troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime
Planning and executing the transfer of data from old systems to new ones
Creating and maintaining documentation for database configurations and processes

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Execute T-SQL scripts
Check out Sybase T-SQL code for developers
Deploying changed database objects
Distribute PowerBuilder code
Table replication using Sybase Replication server
Deploy Visual Cron batch jobs
Troubleshoot connection/security and performance issues
Database space issues
Assist developer with Sybase T-SQL issues
Ability and willingness to learn Oracle and SQL Server
Exposure to PostgreSQL
