Position Description:
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect within our Commerce and Transportation sector advancing our client's missions through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities.
The Solution Architect designs and oversees the implementation of technical solutions to meet business needs, acting as a bridge between business requirements and technology capabilities. Responsibilities include analyzing business problems, designing technical blueprints, selecting technology stacks, overseeing development and engineering teams and ongoing communicating with stakeholders. Key skills for this role are strong software development experience, analytical and communication abilities, a deep understanding of enterprise architecture and cloud platforms, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. This is a hybrid role focused on both delivery of ongoing projects and pre-sales activities.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Design Technical Solutions and Roadmaps: Collaborate with stakeholders and business analysts to understand business goals, identify inefficiencies, and define technical requirements. Create high-level architectural blueprints and roadmaps, define the project's technology stack and roadmap designed for to meet requirements and timelines.
Lead Technical Teams: Provide direct and indirect oversight to development teams and collaborate with other architects, project managers, and business analysts to deliver multiple solutions. Ensure consistent engineering practices across teams, meeting quality standards and adhering to project timelines. Foster and grow the use the use of AI in development and operations as part of regular activities.
Manage Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate the technical strategy, progress, and risks to internal and externals stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Support Business Growth: Lead the discovery and solution shaping for new opportunities and account growth by crafting solution architectures, migration paths, staffing models, estimates, and implementation plans. Author technical proposal content and present during orals and demos, while building prototypes or POCs. Collaborate with partners and OEMs on integrated offerings and develop pricing inputs, including sizing, BoMs, and cloud cost models. Articulate the value, total cost of ownership (TCO), and return on investment (ROI) for proposed solutions
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree and/or 10 years of experience in development or technical roles.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of enterprise and software architecture, microservices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and systems integration.
Previous experience in a similar role or with specific cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. This may include experience with designing, implementing and maintaining cloud-based systems for high performance and resiliency.
A cloud certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Experience developing user interfaces. Understanding and applying core and advanced concepts of the front end frameworks, such as Angular, including components, modules, services, and directives.
Analytical Skills: Ability to connect business demands with viable technology solutions and make data-driven decisions.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for advising stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams.
Problem-Solving: A mindset focused on addressing complex technical challenges and finding the best solutions for organizational efficiency.
Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes, o ensure solutions align with business goals including the need for high availability, resiliency and disaster recovery.
Demonstrated pre-sales experience: capture support, solutioning, estimation, and proposal/orals participation.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $218,200.00.
