What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Social Media Coordinator position at CGA?
Under the direction of the Social Media Coordinator: Is one of the "on-camera" faces and voices of HDO on social media. Works with legislators—writing, filming, and editing—to increase their presence in HDO social media video content. Provides guidance and support to individual legislators, staff, and the caucus to better engage constituents through social media. Develops, produces, and edits content for social media and other media.
Works directly with SMC to create and post content for caucus and provides content ideas for legislators.
Serves as one of the on-camera personalities for HDO short-form video content delivering updates, educational "explainer" content, and lighter behind-the-scenes videos.
Works in the field to create in-district social media posts for legislators.
Takes/edits photos and video for use in print and online.
Writes content for mail, web, and social media.
Works directly with legislators and staff to provide design and digital media support solutions; provides workshops and trainings.
Advises Representatives and staff on ways to increase constituent engagement using social media and provides assistance/research on all social media issues.
Creates graphics for social media and other media collaboratively with DCD and fills other DCD roles when needed.
Works on social media content calendar for caucus.
Maintains daily auto-posting for Representatives who opt in.
Other duties at the discretion of senior staff.
Requires expertise in multiple social media platforms and content generation.
Strong oral and written communications skills and a comfortable on-camera personality.
Proficiency in still photography and video (from shooting to editing and CapCut).
Working experience and knowledge of graphic design products like Canva and InDesign.
Understanding of the legislative process and government.
