Staff Accountant II
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant II supports the accounting function in a manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on cost accounting, inventory, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with operations to ensure accurate product costing, meaningful variance analysis, and timely financial information to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and support monthly and annual financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Perform cost accounting activities including inventory valuation, standard cost maintenance, labor and overhead application, and variance analysis.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing leadership to analyze production costs and operational performance.
- Maintain accurate inventory and cost records, including material usage, labor reporting, and overhead absorption.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, and cost models related to manufacturing operations.
- Support internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements related to cost and inventory accounting.
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and requests from external auditors.
- Support accounts payable and other general accounting activities as needed.
- Ensure data accuracy and integration across ERP and accounting systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
- Experience working with ERP systems; manufacturing ERP experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations and leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
