Senior Project Accountant | Real Estate Development

$90 - 95K bonus

📍 Houston, TX (Hybrid)

A well-established Houston-based real estate development firm is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join their growing team. This role will support large-scale master-planned community and land development projects, working closely with project managers and leadership on financial oversight from acquisition through completion.

What You’ll Do

• Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate development projects
• Track and analyze project costs, budgets, and variances
• Prepare and review monthly financials for active developments
• Maintain and monitor job cost reporting and project-level forecasting
• Partner with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting
• Support draw requests, funding, and cash flow management
• Assist with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners (developers, lenders, etc.)
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 5 years of accounting experience within real estate development or construction
• Strong understanding of job costing / project accounting
• Experience with development accounting (land, horizontal, or vertical projects)
• Familiarity with WIP / percentage of completion (POC) preferred
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Advanced Excel skills
