As a Payroll Specialist, you will ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing for a multi‑state workforce, with a strong focus on certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Processing and reviewing weekly multi‑state payroll using Paylocity.
- Managing certified payroll reporting for Davis‑Bacon, Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship (PWA), and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) requirements.
- Editing and validating certified payroll submissions, craft classifications, and apprentice classifications.
- Investigating and correcting rejected filings to ensure timely resubmission.
- Partnering with Time & Labor and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies and support prevailing wage projects.
- Reconciling payroll‑related general ledger accounts and preparing detailed reports for accounting.
- Developing and maintaining fringe schedules for prevailing wage payroll.
- Uploading apprenticeship documentation and completing required data entry in client portals, DOL systems, and compliance platforms.
- Responding to payroll inquiries, wage report requests, and supporting tax reporting and audits.
- Using advanced Excel skills to build and analyze complex payroll and compliance spreadsheets.
- 5–7 years of payroll experience, including multi‑state processing.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Direct experience with Certified Payroll, Davis‑Bacon, and Prevailing Wage reporting (required).
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
