Medical Billing Specialist

Salary: $19 – $24 hour ($39,500 – $49,900 annually)

Location: Bethesda, MD

Key Responsibilities

• Submit, manage, and post insurance claims for both commercial and government payors
• Investigate and resolve denied or unpaid claims to ensure timely reimbursement
• Process aging reports, handle appeals, and follow up on outstanding accounts
• Post patient payments and adjustments accurately and promptly
• Maintain detailed records, prepare financial reports, and communicate with insurance carriers
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on medical billing experience (beyond AR follow-up)
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance billing
• Experience with both commercial and non-commercial payors (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic billing systems
• Preferred:
• Experience working in a central billing office or multi-specialty practice
• Familiarity with EHR platforms such as ModMed, Epic, or AthenaHealth
• Strong organizational and communication skills
