The Assistant Controller will oversee core month-end close activities, manage three direct reports, and lead efforts to document, standardize, and streamline accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities For The Assistant Controller
- Walk through and oversee the month-end close process, including journal entries and accrual accounting
- Manage, coach, and develop three direct reports; push work to appropriate levels while remaining hands-on
- Standardize, document, and automate accounting templates and SOPs for staff and management
- Oversee accurate execution of basic accrual accounting and closing procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- Strong technical accounting background with solid accrual accounting expertise
- 3–5 years of people management experience with a hands-on leadership style
- Experience with Great Plains or similar ERP systems (Dynamics / Business Central)
- Demonstrated ability to create, document, and implement processes and SOPs
