About The Role
This is a hands-on Assistant Controller position supporting the Controller and CFO in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting.

About The Role
This is a hands-on Assistant Controller position supporting the Controller and CFO in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting.
You’ll play a key role in the monthly close, audit, reporting, and healthcare-specific financial processes, while also acting as a backup across core accounting functions when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the monthly close process, including preparation of operating statements and board reporting
- Assist with Medicare & Medicaid cost reports, including follow-ups and resubmissions
- Partner on the annual audit, coordinating with external auditors and internal teams
- Support preparation of financial reports, UDS schedules, and Form 990 support schedules
- Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules, including monthly entries
- Perform monthly cost allocations across departments and programs
- Manage prepaid and accrued expense reconciliations
- Analyze and report on billing write-offs
- Support cash management activities, including deposits and upload files
- Assist with American Express activity uploads and supporting documentation
- Serve as a backup across AP, AR, payroll, and grants functions as needed
- Participate in special projects and ongoing process improvements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior-level role
- Healthcare accounting experience is required
- Experience within nonprofit environments strongly preferred
- Strong Excel skills and overall systems proficiency
- Experience with MIP or similar nonprofit accounting systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and partnering with leadership
