Overview Of The Ap Manager Role
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily AP operations, workload distribution, and employee performance.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and vendor payments.
- Monitor AP aging reports and proactively resolve outstanding items.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Oversee AP automation tools and third-party integrations to improve efficiency.
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Days Payable Outstanding (DPO)
- Early Payment Discounts
- Invoice Exception Rates
- Conduct monthly reviews of outstanding liabilities and payment trends with finance leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, internal controls, and departmental efficiencies.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Purchasing, and Operations to support company-wide initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or accounts payable experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.
- Experience analyzing AP metrics and implementing process improvements preferred.
