The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards while supporting the mission and values of the organization. This role plays a critical part in financial stewardship, donor accountability, and the effective use of resources in service of the organization’s faith-based mission.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts
- Track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and designated donations
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor budget-to-actual results and provide variance analysis
- Prepare financial reports for leadership, boards, and committees
- Support grant reporting and donor financial transparency
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations applicable to nonprofit organizations
- Support annual audits and tax filings (e.g., Form 990)
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
- Assist with policy development related to financial procedures
Required
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
- Working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Salary : $50,000 - $52,000
