Clinic Assistant School-Based Health Center

Child and Family Agency of SE CT (CFA) is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing compassionate care for children, adolescents and their families. Must be certified/registered.

We are in need of a Certified Medical/Clinic Assistant to:

• Efficiently manage the flow of patients through the SchoolBased Health Center based out of New London Public Schools and supporting the district as needed.
• Previsit chart medical record preparation and information gathering to optimize Nurse Practitioner and Mental Health Therapist SBHC visits.
• Participates in team meetings and huddles
• Assists providers with medical histories where appropriate.
• Documents in electronic health record.
• Check routine vital signs and point of care testing (based on patient’s reason for visit, age and diagnosis)
• Perform screening questionnaires as needed.
• Actively communicates with patients to set expectations (what to expect during visit, etc).
• Assist providers with clinical procedures.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Assists coworkers in their duties within the limitations of training and scope of practice.
• Update computerized reminders in ECW
• Review and update overdue health maintenance and open orders.
• Schedule future visits for providers.
• This position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and excellent communication skills.
• Implement philosophy and objectives of the Agency
• Performs tasks independently and use appropriate judgment when consulting with supervisory team and peers as needed
• Work with a diverse group of staff.
• Performs administrative/clerical functions in addition to the clinical responsibilities of the medical assistant.
• Greets clients and their families courteously and with respect.
• Answers telephone professionally and takes accurate detailed electronic messages.
• Schedule patient appointments electronically (using eClinical Works), according to scheduling guidelines.
• Completes patient appointment registrations efficiently with the result of successful claim submissions.
• Obtains consent for treatment and other necessary patient signatures.
• Performs administrative duties necessary to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursements for services provided.
• Participates in proactive population management including sending template letters, calling to schedule appointments by telephone, and maintaining future scheduled appointments.

Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
