Docket Clerk Job Description:
Provides support to the Managing Clerk’s Office by processing docket entries, assisting with filings and service of process, and maintaining accurate records of litigation deadlines and court communications
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Enter and update docket entries and case information in the firm’s docketing system, CourtAlert.
• Assist with preparing and submitting electronic and hard-copy filings under supervision.
• Monitor and review court notices and update corresponding deadlines.
• Maintain filing records, proof of service documentation, and calendared entries.
• Notify attorneys and paralegals of upcoming deadlines and court directives.
• Coordinate service of process, including preparing documents for process servers and tracking completion.
• Make occasional trips to court to submit paper filings, retrieve filed documents, or obtain clerk certifications as needed.
• Assist in retrieving filed documents from court systems and responding to attorney requests for case information.
• Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, converting PDFs, and organizing case materials.
Qualifications for this role:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2 years’ experience in a Managing Attorney or Managing Clerk’s office of a major law firm.
• Familiarity with electronic filing platforms (e.g., NYSCEF, PACER/ECF) and docketing systems (CourtAlert preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
• Ability to manage time-sensitive materials and navigate court environments when handling in-person tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability to handle after hours’ assignments depending on firm needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
• Ability to problem solve, think outside of the box to find solutions, and willingness to utilize other areas of the firms resources such as the Library, IT, Word Processing teams
• Ability to prioritize multiple competing requests and clearly communicate to pending and incoming request holders expected completion times
Salary Range:
• $85,000 - $95,000 (depending on experience); non-exempt. OT eligible.
