Job Title: Construction Cost Estimator [Water/Wastewater]

The Role
We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented Construction Cost Estimator with experience in Water and Wastewater treatment plants and Pump stations who thrives in a flexible work environment. The ideal candidate must be responsive, reliable, and able to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role.
This is a fully remote position. The role is structured as on-call services, meaning the candidate will be engaged on an as-needed basis. When a client request arises, the candidate will be notified to perform a specific task and will be compensated for that assignment. This arrangement offers significant flexibility, allowing you to work from anywhere and accept tasks that fit your schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed (bottom-up) independent construction cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment and pumping facilities.
- Review engineering Opinions of Probable Construction Costs (OPCCs) for accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze and evaluate contractor bids and proposals for new awards and change orders.
- Interpret and analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to support cost estimation.
- Stay current with industry trends in equipment and material pricing to ensure accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with project teams to explain and reconcile differences between cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate and timely cost estimation.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
- Provide support during the bidding process, including reviewing and analyzing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Conducting value engineering studies of selected projects
- Perform additional project controls-related duties as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimating OR no bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in detail cost estimating.
- Proven experience in developing and managing cost estimates for medium and large-scale projects
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, time, cost, and risk management.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools. (e.g., Bluebeam)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Preferred Certifications
- AACEI – CEP, CCE, or CCEA
- ASPE

Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
