POSITION PURPOSE
Within the context of Central Willamette’s Statement on Sales Culture, the Senior Commercial Loan Officer provides ethical, professional, friendly, and quality service to our members. This role is responsible for originating, underwriting, documenting, and managing a complex commercial loan portfolio while maintaining a high-quality asset base. The Senior Commercial Loan Officer develops new and existing business relationships, provides guidance and counseling to members regarding business services, and makes sound credit decisions that balance member needs with the Credit Union’s risk standards and strategic priorities.
Hybrid schedule. 3 days in office/2 days remote.

Loan Origination & Business Development – 25%
- Participate in developing lending and deposit business for the Credit Union.
- Call on members/clients to expand existing business and call on prospects to expand the Credit Union’s business client base.
- Actively engage in business development and civic initiatives with contacts throughout the community, including members and prospective members, to achieve defined goals.
- Build and maintain strong internal referral partnerships and external centers-of-influence relationships.
- Take applications for commercial loan business.
- Obtain necessary documents to fully underwrite and document credit requests.
- Review borrower financial condition and assess repayment ability through a thorough due diligence process.
- Establish appropriate loan structure, including pricing, terms, covenants, collateral, and duration, in alignment with relationship goals and Credit Union guidelines.
- Make underwriting decisions within approval authority; present requests to appropriate approval channels (e.g., committee) as needed.
- Complete or direct completion of all loan documents and close loans, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Monitor an existing commercial portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base.
- Maintain up-to-date member/client files including (as applicable) current balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow projections, and supporting documentation.
- Perform ongoing relationship/portfolio management activities including identification and documentation of:
- Problem loans
- Policy exceptions
- Grade changes
- Annual reviews
- Watchlist reviews and/or special reviews as required
- Identify emerging risks and trends and recommend appropriate actions consistent with sound credit administration.
- Approve loans within established limits or refer loans to the appropriate approval body for approval.
- Verify loan agreements and documentation are complete and accurate according to applicable policies and procedures.
- Recommend policy, guideline, and procedural changes as needed to strengthen effectiveness, consistency, and member experience.
- Troubleshoot and resolve internal and external inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
- Assist members with loan-related questions and concerns, ensuring clarity and an excellent member experience.
- Communicate effectively with internal partners (operations, branch teams, finance, compliance, etc.) to support smooth processing and strong service.
- Must comply with all Credit Union policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- USA PATRIOT Act
- Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements
- Maintain spreadsheets, reports, and commercial loan-related records as needed.
- Attend training and stay current on policies, regulations, and services; seek opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow.
- Provide daily support/oversight as needed to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational goals and CWCU values.
- Excellent planning skills (short- and long-term) with strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze applicant financial information, assess risk, and recommend/approve commercial loans based on thorough due diligence.
- Required knowledge of current State, Federal, and other regulations applicable to commercial lending.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, customer service, communication, and presentation skills.
- Professional written communication skills; able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively through frequent interruptions.
- Able to manage schedule with minimal supervision; ability to flex schedule to meet member needs.
- Ability to present a professional image to management, staff, members, and outside contacts.
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
- Strong PC knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite and database operations; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
- Familiarity with ACH and merchant services.
- Ability to assess and implement organizational changes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of maintaining composure under deadlines, fast pace, and requirements for extreme accuracy/quality.
- Ability to motivate or influence internal and external senior-level stakeholders; capable of obtaining cooperation and agreement through frequently complex dialogue.
- Demonstrates CWCU’s core competencies, including enhancing experience, achieving results, communicating effectively, and continuous learning.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5–10 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience, with extensive knowledge of banking legislation and commercial lending practices.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Salary : $95,396 - $119,133
