Position Overview
Central Florida Preparatory School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant - After Care team member to join our school. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting classroom instruction, assisting students, supporting cafeteria lunch and after care rpograms while fostering a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities
Assist with Instruction:
- Support the classroom teacher with instructional activities.
- Help prepare teaching materials and resources for after care.
- Monitor and support all students during lunch periods in the cafeteria/calsssrooms.
Classroom Management:
- Assist in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Monitor student behavior and implement behavior management strategies.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and field trips.
Student Support:
- Provide additional assistance to students with special needs or those requiring extra help in classroom, lunch room and after care.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage student engagement and participation.
Administrative Duties:
- Help maintain student records and track progress.
- Perform clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing, and organizing classroom materials.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student progress and behavior.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Professional Development:
- Engage in training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Stay informed about educational best practices and school policies.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience with special education or English language learners is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).
