What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse - Central Elementary School position at Central Elementary School?
Central Elementary School, K-4 is seeking an energetic, creative and dedicated school nurse, beginning in the school year 2026-2027. We are looking for a team player who places children’s needs first. The School Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care and wellness checks for students, along with maintaining student medical records and being a resource to students and staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing nursing assessment, treatment, first aid, and emergency care
- Administering and monitoring medications that are taken at school
- Maintaining comprehensive and confidential health records for students that are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
- Must remain proficient in current technology for health record databases used throughout the district
- Ensures all student vaccinations are up to date
- Managing communicable diseases
- Conducting annual hearing and vision screening
- Assessing and planning for students with health-related concerns which may affect learning (EST, 504, IEP participation)
- Communicating with families and staff regarding health-related issues
- Providing families and staff with health-related resources and referrals
- Promoting school-wide wellness through health education
- Oversees Health Education
- Case manages Medical 504’s
- Member of Crisis Team
-Vermont RN License
-Must have or be able to obtain a Vermont Educator's License with School Nurse endorsement.
-Public School Nursing experience highly desired
Salary : $50,000 - $86,242
