Qualifications: Must hold a valid Virginia Teaching license with Elementary Education endorsement and have a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the elementary grades.

SUMMARY
The Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in grades PK-2 in the area of Reading and Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides high-quality reading and mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups.
- Assesses, designs, and implements interventions targeting specific student needs in the areas of reading and mathematics.
- Utilizes data to plan and implement evidence-based strategies to help students learn grade-level content.
- Utilizes a rich array of instructional approaches, resources, and technologies to strengthen reading and mathematical instruction.
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Meets regularly with teachers, administration, lead-teacher, and division literacy and math specialists to review student assessment data and assess progress toward grade-level goals.
- Communicates with teachers and families regarding student progress both orally and in writing.
- Assists in creating schedules and rosters for intervention periods and supports student intervention plans.
- Provides collaboration, as needed, with Tier I instruction.
- Administers, analyzes, and provides feedback on individual student assessments, as needed.
- Ability to handle other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid Virginia Teaching license with Elementary Education certification; and have a minimum of five years of instructional experience in the elementary grades.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area in which assigned.
- Applicants must have good health and no disqualifying physical or emotional handicaps. Evidence of fitness to teach from the standpoint of health may be required from a qualified physician.
- Applicants who have had teaching experience must have an acceptable rating for such teaching.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;certification in the area of teaching.
- A minimum of five years of Elementary instructional experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
10 month contract.
