CD East Marching Band Color Guard Instructor

Summary
The Central Dauphin School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Color Guard Instructor for the CD East Marching Band. This position is ideal for someone with experience in color guard techniques and performance, who is eager to inspire and educate students in the art of color guard. The instructor will play a crucial role in developing the skills and performance quality of the color guard members, fostering teamwork, discipline, and creativity within the group.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging and effective color guard training programs and routines.
• Teach students various color guard techniques, including flag, rifle, and saber work.
• Choreograph performances that enhance the overall visual presentation of the marching band.
• Collaborate with the marching band director and other instructors to ensure cohesive performances.
• Conduct regular rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to students to improve their skills.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and growth.
• Organize and supervise color guard practices, performances, and competitions.
• Maintain communication with students and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and performances.
• Attend all scheduled rehearsals, performances, and competitions, providing support and guidance as needed.
• Stay updated on current color guard trends, techniques, and best practices in the field.

Requirements

• Previous experience in color guard performance and instruction is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of color guard techniques, choreography, and performance practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors and staff members.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances as required.
• A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
• Must pass background checks as required by the Central Dauphin School District.
