Compliance Specialist
Position Summary
The Compliance Specialist supports the Bank’s Compliance & CRA Officer in implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the Bank’s compliance and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs. This role helps ensure the Bank’s operations align with all applicable federal and state regulations, internal policies, and community banking standards. The Compliance Specialist plays a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks across traditional banking services, digital banking channels, and fintech partnerships.
This position is essential to maintaining the Bank’s strong culture of compliance, community engagement, and responsible growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Assist in the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing management of the Bank’s compliance program.
- Support compliance oversight of third‑party partnerships, including ongoing monitoring.
- Provide support during regulatory examinations, internal audits, and external compliance audits.
- Assist in maintaining compliance documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping in accordance with regulatory and Bank standards.
- Support the investigation and resolution of potential compliance issues or violations, including those involving third‑party partners.
- Assist with complaint management, including documentation, root‑cause analysis, and communication with regulatory agencies when required.
- Contributes to the development, review, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Assist in preparing compliance reports and materials for Board and Committee meetings.
CRA Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing management of the Bank’s CRA program.
- Assist with CRA data collection, validation, and reporting.
- Assist with tracking and documenting qualified investments, donations, and community development service activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Required
- 2 years of experience in bank compliance, risk management, or regulatory oversight, preferably within a community bank or similar financial institution.
- Working knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations, including those related to consumer compliance, BSA/AML, OFAC, Fair Lending, and CRA.
- Familiarity with compliance considerations related to digital banking and fintech partnerships.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- Experience supporting compliance functions in community banking, fintech collaborations, or digital payment environments.
- Experience with CRA data management, community outreach documentation, or community development activities.
- Experience assisting with compliance training or policy development.
Working Conditions
- Primarily on‑site work environment, with occasional hybrid flexibility depending on business needs.
- Occasional travel for training, audits, community engagement, or regulatory meetings.
