Summary:
Winchester Public Schools, a city school division with 4,000 students and 725 full time employees, is seeking a Director of Human Resources. Must have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage complex roles/responsibilities; skills to support the division mission and vision; and experience working with a diverse organization and community.
Responsibilities: Direct the efforts of the human resources team to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external constituents; support educational performance and financial stability of the division, provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the division's recruitment, selection, and performance management initiatives; employee relations and investigations; address complaints and resolve problems; various legal matters pertaining to employment and/or Title IX matters.

Qualifications:
Preferred candidate will have Master's degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations, or Educational Leadership. Five to seven years of experience in an exempt-level human resources leadership position or a leadership/management position, preferably with a school division and/or a local/state/federal agency. Human Resource Certification preferred.
The position requires outstanding personal and professional characteristics; dynamic and proven leadership; ability to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community; superior writing and speaking skills; mastery of human resource knowledge and employment law; demonstrated leadership in the management of human resources; and a master at team development to achieve results.

Winchester Public Schools is comprised of one high school, one middle school, one intermediate school, four elementary schools including Pre-K programs, and one alternative education program serving over 4,000 students, supported by approximately 725 full-time employees. Winchester is situated in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, 65 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Salary:
Commensurate with experience. Range is $120,510 - $185,583 based on the 2026-2027 salary scale. Salary includes payment for Master's Degree. Additional $8,460 for earned Doctorate Degree.
