What are the responsibilities and job description for the CI Project Management Manager position at CenterPoint Energy?

CenterPoint Energy is looking for a CI Project Management Manager to join our Continuous Improvement Team, located in Houston, TX.
 
You will have the ability to: lead and manages a team of project managers in the application of project management principles to implement large-scale projects and process improvement projects as well as projecting and tracking realization of project benefit effectively and successfully.

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Effectively manage and develop staff engaged in large project management for the enterprise.
  • Oversee business project portfolio, including budget, value delivery and benefit realization for the enterprise aligned to business strategy.
  • Oversee processes, methods and technologies that analyze, optimize, and collectively manage current and proposed projects to achieve strategic organizational goals within resource constraints.
  • Work with business units to assist in designing project approach and understanding complex project implications for go/no go decision making to support key strategic goals.
    • Review financial, material, resource, and scheduling requirements to understand feasibility prior to organizational decision-making around project launch.
    • Aid in building project portfolio to best deliver desired strategic outcomes.
  • Implement methodology to effectively prioritize, schedule and report on key elements of project portfolio.
  • Develop voice of the customer metrics and methodology to evaluate project sustainability post-implementation.
  •  to identify opportunities to increase value delivery to internal customers.
  • Engage with business leaders and key stakeholders regarding high profile project developments and provide regular updates on status of project portfolio.
  • Negotiate high profile changes in project schedules, deliverables, or costs with stakeholders.
  • Facilitation cross-functional stakeholder meetings with other project and improvement delivery teams across the organization, including technology delivery groups, other project management organizations and process improvement and continuous improvement organizations, to ensure proper alignment, prioritization, and transparency of overall enterprise portfolio.
  • Effectively build relationships across business units within the organization.
  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen, presentation capabilities, communication, and conflict negotiation skills.

Your background includes:
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Business, Finance, Engineering, Technology or Operations.
  • Requires a minimum seven (7) years work experience in project management, process improvement, agile, lean, and/or relevant utility industry experience. Equivalent post-graduate education taken into consideration in lieu of work experience.
 
A bonus to have:
  • MBA degree.
  • Project Management Professional and/or Change Management Professional.
  • Utility experience, supervisory or leadership within an operational or engineering process.
