Electrical Facilities Engineer

CEIS | Government is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support facilities engineering operations at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges while supporting mission-critical national security operations. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop facility improvements, modernize electrical systems, oversee construction activities, and provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering studies, project plans, schedules, cost estimates, and technical recommendations.
  • Design and review electrical systems for commercial and industrial facilities, including power distribution, lighting, and utility infrastructure.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations for facility modifications.
  • Manage projects through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout while ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, and applicable codes.
  • Evaluate existing electrical systems and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, safety, energy efficiency, and long-term asset performance.
  • Support preventative maintenance strategies, asset management initiatives, and facility optimization efforts.
  • Serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to engineering, operations, planning, and project execution teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial, industrial, laboratory, or government facilities.
  • Experience with electrical distribution systems, building electrical design, lighting systems, or facility infrastructure modifications.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and California Building and Energy Codes.
  • Experience managing projects from concept through construction and closeout.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance, including US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain California licensure.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of California Building Codes (CBC).
  • PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience with sustainable facility design or LEED principles.
  • Background supporting facility operations, maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
