Clover Leaf is seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Assistants to support the Controller Payroll Benefits and Accounting (CNTL-PBA) Group. Reporting to the CNTL-PBA Group Leader, the selected candidates will be responsible for union time and effort data entry, verification, customer service (emails & phone), and electronic filing.
This role requires accuracy, strong analytical and time management skills, and a high level of independence. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, problem-solving ability, and a proven record of meeting deadlines and maintaining excellent attendance. Occasional work outside normal hours may be required.

Key Responsibilities
- Timekeeping & Payroll Support: Enter and verify union time and effort data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
- Customer Service: Respond to payroll-related inquiries via email and phone, providing clear and timely support.
- Data Management & Compliance: Maintain electronic filing systems, ensuring confidentiality and proper handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
- Collaboration & Guidance: Work effectively within a team, providing guidance and training to departmental staff as needed.
- Process Efficiency: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and workflow efficiency.
- Knowledge of electronic timekeeping systems, LANL craft payroll processes, and financial concepts.
- Strong numerical accuracy and ability to perform arithmetic operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email) and familiarity with financial software or ERP systems.
- Understanding of confidentiality and handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and professional information exchange.
- Strong organizational skills to manage priorities, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Effective team player with a willingness to support colleagues and take on new tasks as needed.
- Ability to provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members when required.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
- Additional training, certification, or education (such as college-level business courses) may be expected.
- One (1) year of experience with LANL union craft timekeeping.
- One (1) year of experience working with spreadsheets and electronic financial or payroll systems.
