SUMMARY
To provide front desk and billing support by verifying patients’ insurance status, resolving billing issues, answering patient billing questions and assist uninsured patients and clients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure timely and accurate billing and collection of medical, behavioral health, and dental claims. Ensure that the billing and collection processes meet the organization’s financial and operational goals.
- Implement systems, mechanisms and controls to monitor and ensure all billing and collection efforts are functioning in the most efficient and effect manner possible. Support ongoing improvement of the organization’s billing and collection efforts.
- Ensure timely and accurate problem resolution between the organization and its patients, payer sources, as well as vendors, contractors, and other related business entities.
- Ensure the billing processes and collection mechanisms meet or exceed all requirements for internal controls as well as those from all third party payers.
- Ensure all billing processes and collection functions are compliant with all internal policies as well as state, local, and federal laws, regulations, regulatory and/or best practices.
- Ensure all billing and collection efforts contribute to a positive patient experience.
- Establish and maintain knowledge of public and private health care benefits
- Assist clients in enrolling in and maintaining public and private health insurance through MNsure.
- Evaluates and interprets patient financial history; ensures proper documentation and information gathering.
- Educates patients on available financial resources and assesses patients for public healthcare programs eligibility
- Resolves returned and/or rejected bills.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to speak Somali or Oromo
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous medical insurance/medical office experience required
- Strong background in patient collections
- Knowledge of medical insurance
- Knowledge of medical office procedures.
- Familiar and comfortable with computers and computer software (i.e. Microsoft office, Epic/Ochin)
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to speak/write Somali language
