Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Subsea Project Engineer IV to support the development and execution of deepwater subsea projects within the Gulf of Mexico. This role is focused on the Miocene East production unit, including assets such as Thunder Horse and Na Kika, and requires a highly capable engineer who can integrate technical expertise, project controls knowledge, commercial awareness, and leadership skills to successfully deliver complex offshore projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing projects from concept development through sanction readiness and execution. This position will support project managers in the safe and predictable delivery of subsea developments, with particular emphasis on deepwater tieback projects, package ownership, interface management, project integration, risk management, and schedule optimization.

This is a senior-level engineering position requiring a strong understanding of front-end project development, project execution planning, and the ability to make informed decisions in technically challenging and dynamic environments.


Key Responsibilities

Project Development & Business Case Support

  • Support the maturation of subsea development concepts from early-stage evaluation through sanction readiness.
  • Contribute to the development of project business cases and understand the downstream impacts of engineering, commercial, and execution decisions.
  • Support project managers in delivering projects through FEL3, detailed design, execution, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Participate in project planning activities to ensure alignment with business objectives, operational requirements, and project value drivers.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Support the safe and efficient delivery of deepwater subsea projects.
  • Assume ownership of assigned project packages and ensure successful execution against scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Coordinate project integration activities across multiple disciplines including subsea, wells, operations, subsurface, regulatory, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Manage interfaces between contractors, suppliers, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning, installation, startup, and operational readiness activities.

Project Controls & Scheduling

  • Apply project controls principles to support effective project delivery.
  • Develop and review project schedules with an understanding of:
  • Critical path analysis
  • Forward pass and backward pass methodology
  • Schedule optimization techniques
  • Delivery trade-offs and execution strategies
  • Monitor project performance and identify opportunities to improve predictability and execution efficiency.
  • Support cost forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting activities.

Risk & Opportunity Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate risk reviews and contribute to risk management plans.
  • Support the development of contingency and mitigation strategies for technical, schedule, commercial, and execution risks.
  • Work effectively within complex and evolving project environments where uncertainty must be actively managed.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership while maintaining engineering integrity throughout project development and execution.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in resolving technical and execution challenges.
  • Lead decision-making processes within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into project planning and execution activities.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with:
  • Internal project stakeholders
  • Operations teams
  • Joint venture partners
  • Engineering contractors
  • Installation contractors
  • Equipment suppliers
  • Facilitate communication across project teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery outcomes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Capture, document, and share lessons learned.
  • Promote best practices in project delivery and subsea engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes, governance requirements, self-verification activities, and oversight plans.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project execution performance.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in subsea project engineering, offshore project engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering deepwater subsea projects through FEL, FEED, execution, commissioning, and startup phases.
  • Experience supporting or leading deepwater tieback developments.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including:
  • Cost management
  • Schedule management
  • Risk management
  • Scope management
  • Interface management
  • Experience owning project packages and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with project partners, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Gulf of Mexico deepwater project experience.
  • Experience with assets such as Thunder Horse, Na Kika, Atlantis, Mad Dog, or similar deepwater developments.
  • Strong understanding of subsea production systems, installation activities, and commissioning requirements.
  • Experience with project controls and schedule optimization.
  • Previous involvement in sanction-ready project development and business case preparation.
  • Experience leading technical teams and making decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with major offshore operators, EPC contractors, and subsea equipment suppliers.


Salary : $140 - $170
