We’re hiring a Structural Application Engineer to support the design and development of offsite manufactured and modular building components for complex projects.
This role is built for an engineer who can balance technical rigor with real-world execution. You’ll be responsible for designing structural systems for modular and offsite construction applications while ensuring each solution meets performance, safety, code, transport, and installation requirements. You’ll also collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, manufacturing, and clients to move projects from concept through production and field implementation.
What you’ll do
- Develop structural designs for offsite manufacturing products and systems across multiple complex projects, including steel framing, supports, foundations, and connections
- Perform full structural analysis, including finite element modeling, to validate design performance under a range of loading conditions
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate structural systems into broader project designs
- Create detailed engineering drawings, models, and simulations using tools such as SAP2000, STAAD, Inventor, and Revit
- Participate in client-facing and internal coordination discussions to solve design issues, reduce risk, and finalize project solutions
- Make sound engineering decisions in the review and approval of drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Review vendor drawings and confirm alignment with engineering and project requirements
- Evaluate materials and construction methods for structural performance, constructability, and cost efficiency
- Partner with manufacturing teams to support designs that improve production, transportation, assembly, and field installation
- Conduct shop and field visits to verify constructability and support successful project execution
- Stay current on advances in structural engineering and offsite construction methods
- Contribute to research and development efforts tied to new product development and continuous improvement
- Prepare technical studies, specifications, cost estimates, and proposal evaluations
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- 4 years of experience in structural analysis and design
- PE license preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across teams and interact effectively with clients
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Familiarity with applicable structural and building codes such as ASCE, AISC, and IBC
- Ability to produce and manage engineering drawings independently and in coordination with broader design teams
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple project demands at once
- Sound judgment in engineering decisions and project execution
- Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with structural analysis and design tools such as SAP2000, STAAD, Revit, Inventor, TEKLA, or similar platforms
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and intermediate Excel capability
Why consider this opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who wants to work on challenging projects in the expanding offsite and modular construction space. You’ll have the chance to influence design quality, improve constructability, and help bring high-performance structural solutions from concept through execution.
